National Service Scheme (NSS)
The college has an NSS unit sponsored by Anna University, with a total sanctioned strength of 200 volunteers. Participation in NSS is mandatory for first and second-year students. The NSS volunteers participate in social service activities, camps, and special campaign activities. An orientation course is conducted for the volunteers. Students who work as volunteers for two years are awarded a certificate issued by the University.
Youth Red Cross
The Youth Red Cross, a constituent of the Indian Red Cross (IRC), is constituted in our college. Various activities related to social concern, health awareness, and emergency help are carried out under this program.
Blood Donation
Students of VSAGI donate blood for community supply and as an act of charity every year in association with Lion's Club and various blood banks. More than 180 students donated blood this year.
Green Kalam Project
The Green Kalam project aims to increase awareness about our dependence on trees for survival. The initiative encourages people to understand the importance of trees, which dedicate every part of their life to every living being. The project involves planting 10,000 saplings in and around Uthamacholapuram.
Free Medical Check-Up Camp
Frequent medical check-ups are conducted for people in and around the college once a year. Nearly ten villages and around 600 people are treated under this camp. Medical check-ups include free health checks, eye checks, and dental checks.
Lions Club of Salem
As part of CSR, VSAGI has started a Lions Club on campus, with more than 50% of students becoming members. The various activities under Lions Club include:
